This is one of my most prized possessions… my brooch collection ;)
Oh yeah… this happened.
mashed beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, and sprouts on a Trader Joe’s Whole Wheat Tortilla. Weird combo, but delicioso.
Today I need to finish up a paper for my Sign Language class, and then I’m headed over to the Oregon Street Antique Mall (my heaven) to get a gift for a friend.
:)
I went to Whole Foods for my first time today, and all I can say is HOLY SHIT. I wanted to buy that whole store! ahhhg. I have never been more excited to move to Sacramento (I am certainly excited about Sac State but still…). That store is a health nut’s dreaaaaaaaaaam. haha.
I bought some fresh peanut butter, which is absolute PERFECTION. It’s crunchy and creamy at the same time, and the peanut chunks are just little tidbits. Ooouuhhhmmmmm. I also couldn’t get out of the tea section. I’ve been staying here at my sister’s place and there has been no black tea in sight (except for chai). I mean, I like chai, but I’m missing my real black, borderline-coffee stuff (Earl Grey, Darjeeling, etc). So today at whole foods I bought this new black tea by Choice Organic Teas called Russian Caravan, which is a Pine-Smoked Black Tea. When I read “Pine-Smoked” I was like, whhhaaaatt? I have got to try it! The smell is absolutely DIVINE— It smells like burnt wood or something. Well, I guess it IS Pine-Smoked.. haha. It’s incredibly delicious too. Go go go GOOOO get some NOW.

(Like my sweater? It’s got perfume bottles all over it. My sister got it for me at an antique mall for my birthday.)
Man, I drink way too much tea. Hey, at least it’s not soda! I should probably also mention that I got my 8-year-old niece to start drinking Kombucha (fermented tea, realllly good for you, http://www.synergydrinks.com/health.aspx ) I bought a bottle yesterday, passed it around the car for everyone to taste, and my niece was the only one who liked it. Those of you who have tried Kombucha know it’s definitely an acquired taste (very vinegary), but my niece kept asking for more and ultimately ended up with the last half of the bottle! haha. I don’t know if that’s good for an 8 year old… but it can’t hurt, right? muahah.
It’s been a wonderful few days.

Vegan cornbread! We used it for the stuffing/dressing. http://www.food.com/recipe/vegan-cornbread-115929

Granny Smith Cranberry Conserve. I didn’t use raisins. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/cranberry-fruit-conserve-recipe2/index.html

Sweet Potato Casserole http://ohsheglows.com/2009/11/24/this-aint-grandmas-sweet-potato-casserole/

Yum! In the upper right corner is fruit salad which consisted of too many fruits to name off, low-fat vanilla yogurt, chopped cashews, almonds, and peanuts.

My younger brothers and me. They loved the food! :)

Also, don’t forget to throw in the fact that I did the 6 mile Turkey Trot in between all this cooking! Later that night my brothers and I also took our nephew and niece to see Despicable Me at this discount theater in town. After that I went home and slept, and then I woke up at 2:30 am to go Black Friday Shopping with my good friend, Joe! whew! A long, yet wonderful, day.
Then yesterday I went antique shopping with my brother, and we found some awesome things. What I was most psyched about finding, though, was this Peppermint Bark black tea made by a local resident. They were giving it out to customers and I was all, “Is this for sale?!” hahah. So.. I bought two bags. yeah. Here is the website: http://oregonstreetteacompany.com/ The Peppermint Bark isn’t on the website, but I’m sure the other teas are good too.

Last night I also hung out with my friend Gabeeeyy who I haven’t seen for a while since she resides in Portland now. It’s always good to see her. I think this was my best Thanksgiving break yet, I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
I went running tonight! It felt really great. I haven’t had any “sweets n’ treats” all month, except for some of the pumpkin pie I made, which I don’t count because it was made with splenda, applesauce, and pure pumpkin. It was a dessert, but not.. haha. But yeah, I haven’t had any candy, cookies, cake, ice cream, or anything all month! I’m not going to lie, it was hard! Especially during times when you’re offered decadent dark chocolates like I was last weekend, and when there are desserts all around you due to the holiday season. Oh man. I did accept the chocolates, but I saved them. Now they’re waiting to be eaten in a ziplock bag… I shall eat them on December 1st! As for my next monthly goal… I know what I am going to do, but I will wait until December 1st to tell you.
;)
